Frequently Asked Questions

Most common questions and answers when it comes to bathroom remodeling

Do I have to remove my old tub?

No. The beauty of the Luxury bath system is that we can identify your existing tub and make a new liner that will be vacuumed formed to the same shape of what you have in your home. Instead of tearing out 300 pounds of cast iron and making a huge mess, we will use your existing tub as a perfect base that will receive your new liner like the perfect fit of a glove. This saves you time and money with the added benefit of having an insulated tub that keeps your hot water hot. Best of all, the number one comment of satisfied customers is that it is so easy to clean and still looks like new after years of use. Can’t beat that with any other product!

How long does installing one tubliner take?

The installation time for one tub liner is just one day! (Compare that to the cost and time it would take to replace your existing tub or shower.)

Will I be able to use my tub the same day?

We recommend not using the tub until the next day to allow proper sealing of areas in the installation.

I've redone everything in my bathroom except the tub and walls. Will I lose any of my work and investment?

No. Only Luxury Bath Rochester can renovate the tub and wall area without disturbing the remainder of the room.

Will it last?

YES. Acrylic is the highest quality material used in bathtub products. It has a 30-40 year life expectancy. We also give you a Life Time warranty on materials.

I've never heard of anything like this. Is this something new?

NO. Tubliners are not new, but Luxury Bath Rochester is the exclusive distributor of Luxsan® anti-microbial acrylic baths.

Is it easy to clean?

YES. Acrylic is a non-porous material. Unlike fiberglass or porcelain, it doesn't collect soap scum and dirt. It is the easiest cleaning surface known today in bathtub products.

Does it stain easily?

NO. Luxury Bath with Luxsan® and Microban® acrylic bathtub walls and liners are highly stain resistant.

Can you do anything about my walls?

YES. We can custom fit our acrylic wall system with the same beauty and quality as the acrylic tub.

Will my tub get smaller?

NO. Each new tub is molded to fit your existing tub.

Can I add a shower to my tub?

YES, if acrylic walls are added.

Is the tub bottom slippery?

NO. A slip resistant bottom is standard on all of our jobs.

Can a one-piece fiberglass tub be replaced?

YES. We have a system to do this.

Do I have to take down any ceramic tile?

NO. We can cover existing ceramic tile with acrylic, but we do remove any wet, loose, moldy, or defective areas and bring your walls up to standard.

Why shouldn’t I just refinish my old tub?

Refinishing is only a paint job that is very fragile and lasts only a few years at best. Refinishing also requires delicate care.

Why does it cost so much to tear out and replace an old bathtub?

It is costly because you must tear the room apart back to the wall studs. You lose your wall system and your plaster or dry wall. Both must be replaced. All of your plumbing must also be redone. Your floor will need to be replaced, and your vanity and commode will need to be removed and reinstalled. This is very labor intensive, and it takes about 7 to 10 days to complete, with considerable dust, dirt and mess.
